Log in to Catamaran and Change Password

The first time you visit Catamaran, you will be asked to change your password to adhere to the new security guidelines.

  1. Visit Catamaran
  2. Enter your CIMS username and password on the login page
  3. Click Submit
  4. You will be asked to change your password to log in

Two-Factor Authentication

Once you have entered your username and password, you will need to complete the two-factor authentication process. Because Catamaran contains sensitive, student-level information, two-factor authentication has been added to the security practices for Catamaran users. You will be asked to complete two-factor authentication every six months.

  1. You will have the choice to receive a phone call or an email with an identification code. This contact information will populate from what is currently on file in your CIMS account.
    Note: If you do not have access to this phone (for example, if the listed phone number is a main office number) or email account, please call the Catamaran Help Desk to change your profile information and log in for the first time.
  2. You will receive an identification code via one of the options. Enter this identification code in the pop-up window. You may opt to select Remember Device if you would prefer to complete this security measure less frequently.Two-Factor Authentication Pop-up Box Example Image
    Note: Two-factor authentication works on a device level. It will be launched again if you log in from a new device. Your device must be set to “remember cookies” in order to remember the device. Contact the Catamaran Help Desk, if you need help with your settings.
  3. Click Submit.
    Make sure to add the email help@catamaran.partners to your contact list to make sure identification codes never get caught in your spam folder.

Update Profile

You can edit your profile information at any time. Ensuring that this information is always up to date will allow you to successfully complete the two-factor authentication process at login and receive important notifications from Catamaran.

Access your profile by clicking on your name in the right-hand corner of your screen once you have logged in.

  1. Add your cell phone number if you would like to receive text identification codes for two-factor authentication. Your cell phone number will only be used as a method to complete the two-factor authentication process when you log in.
  2. Make sure your email is up-to-date.
  3. Choose and answer two security questions. The security questions will only be used if the Catamaran Help Desk needs to validate your account information or if you need to reset your password.
    Password guidelines:

    • Must be at least 12 characters long
    • Must include at least three of the following four elements:
      • At least one letter
      • At least one number
      • At least one capital letter
      • At least one special character: # $ % ‘ ^ , ( ) * + . : | = ? @ / ] [ _ { } ~ ` \! ; –
