What is a Determinations Report?
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is required by the federal IDEA regulations to make annual determinations of every district in the state. As a part of these determinations, MDE reviews the district’s performance during the previous year on select State Performance Plan (SPP) indicators, the timely, valid and reliable submission of data, timely Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and any audit findings. The district receives a rating from 1 (meets requirements) to 4 (needs substantial intervention) on each element and an overall determination score from 1 to 4 based on the scores of each individual element.
Why didn’t my district receive a Determinations Report?
If your district received a message in Catamaran that a Determinations Report was not available, it is likely that your district is too new to have had a full year of data collected and reported. For example, if your district was added to Catamaran after December of this year, you will not have a Determinations Report until next year.
